The year is 2004. Your collection of CD’s includes Blink-182, Green Day, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, The Offspring, and… Picture Us Tiny?

Welcome to the second installment of Buddy’s House Show Crash Course. The second go round, we’re taking a look at Picture Us Tiny, Syracuse University's favorite Pop Punk band. The mastermind behind the nostalgic genius of PUT is Jackson Velli, a senior at Syracuse University from Washington D.C. The rest of the band has rotating members from show to show, but you can expect the same core group when at a Syracuse house show: Vir Batra rips up guitar strings at every damn show he plays, Nick Beebower makes love to his drum set for PUT along with every other band on campus, Maria Nido holds everyone together on stage with her bass playing, and obviously Jackson Velli slashes bar chords and whines into the mic for us.

At any Picture Us Tiny show you go to, you can expect a sweaty and rowdy mosh pit to open up at some point. You’ll get a mixed bag of rowdy songs to jump around to and heartfelt ballads that expose emotion and passion, mostly about girls. If you haven’t already familiarized yourself with some of the songs from PUT’s discography, I’ll be the first to tell you that it’s a worthwhile investment and it’s easy to do.

Some fan favorites that are an almost guaranteed lock to be played at any live show include “Out All Night”, “Party Girl”, and “Forever and Always (Tinys Version).” PUT came into the house show scene with a self-titled album already under their belt which allowed them to play a full set, but they haven’t been sleeping on their laurels. PUT continues to release new music for their fans to enjoy on their playlists and at live shows. Songs like “Forever and Always (Tinys Version)” that I’ve mentioned have come out while Jackson Velli has been in school. Other recent releases include “control freak” with aldrch and “Mac and Steeze” which just came out last month with a music video (watch it here https://youtu.be/fhClTYge0xU ).

If you’re a vet of the house show scene, you know what the deal is with Picture Us Tiny. They have been headlining shows for over a year and are continuing to do so this year. Picture Us Tiny was at the infamous Spookball show in which innocent floorboards were murdered in cold blood at the hands of another former house show giant, NONEWFRIENDS (who just played at the NY State Fair). The latest headliner show was Bloomfest II at the Westcott theater last week. As of this moment, PUT doesn’t have any shows announced but there is sure to be something coming soon.
