Pusha T is back with new single Diet Coke

In anticipation of his new album, the GOOD Music president delivers a killer single.

Pusha T hasn’t released an album since his highly acclaimed record Daytona. With rumors swirling about a new project coming, Pusha T decided to drop Diet Coke, a new track produced by the artist formerly known as Kanye West and 88-Keys. In an instagram video, 88-Keys said that the instrumental has been in the works for 18 years, which is apparent in the beat’s choppy vocal samples and early 2000’s sound. Diet Coke brings about Pusha T rapping about what he knows best, cocaine. This comes with some clever bars such as, “Everybody get it off the boat, right?/But only I can really have a snow fight.” Along with his familiar braggadocious lines, Push shouts out Ye on this track donning him with the new title of “Yezos,” an interpolation on the name of billionaire Jeff Bezos.

The music video for Diet Coke, directed by Omar Jones, features Push, Ye, and model Alexys Jay dancing and rapping with a black and white visuals. The two artists are also seen rapping on a couch with a series of shots. The addition of Ye in the music video adds to the controversy and excitement, with his name heavily in the news amid his divorce with Kim Kardashian and (hopeful) imminent release of his prior album’s sequel, Donda 2.

Pusha T’s upcoming album It’s Not Dry Yet is expected to be released this year. He has only released 4 singles since his last album, and this is much to be expected for the new project. Music executive Steven Victor states that it will be the, “the motherfucking album of the year.” If Diet Coke is a sign of things to come, I wouldn’t be surprised if It’s Not Dry Yet takes home that title.
