Preview: X Ambassadors at Cayuga Sound Festival

By Katie Canete

Calling all Central New York Music lovers! Here’s a music festival that needs to be on your radar this weekend if it isn’t already. The inaugural Cayuga Sound Festival is kicking off on Saturday, September 23rd in Ithaca, NY. This is a homecoming show for indie-rock band X Ambassadors, who launched their musical careers in the city and are now returning as a headliner for this event.

X Ambassadors, co-headlining with The Roots, curated the festival themselves. The artist lineup includes K.Flay, Jukebox the Ghost, The Knocks, Stone Cold Miracle, and many more. The goal of the weekend is to celebrate the city of Ithaca, so in addition to great music from a variety of genres, there will be plenty of locally produced foods and beverages. The band will also be giving back to the community by donating a portion of show proceeds to Planned Parenthood Ithaca, Community School of Music & Arts, and more.

This is a jam-packed weekend equipped with educational panels Friday afternoon and two shows before the festival Friday night at The Dock and The Haunt. The festival gates open at 11:00 am and music kicks off at noon. If you missed X Ambassadors at Syracuse University, now’s your chance to catch them close by!
