Six years after their last release, the hip-hop duo of Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, known as NxWorries, is back. In their grand return, NxWorries features Grammy Award winner H.E.R. in their single, “Where I Go.” The music video, directed by Anderson .Paak, was also released, showcasing romantic and eclectic energy to complement the visuals. Before releasing the track on October 19, the pair teased fans with a snippet from the music video earlier that week, causing excitement among NxWorries fans. The release of their single continues Anderson .Paaks’ incredible record of ongoing collaborative success.
The duo of Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge first joined forces in 2015 to form NxWorries with the release of their first EP, Link Up and Suede. In 2016, we saw the release of their first full-length album, Yes Lawd!, which was joined by a remix of the album a year later. Since then, the two have focused on solo projects outside of NxWorries. In the meantime, Anderson .Paak has been one the busiest artists in the hip-hop world, releasing multiple solo albums and becoming one of the most formidable collaborators in the hip-hop industry. In back-to-back years, we saw the release of .Paak’s solo projects, Oxnard in 2018, and Ventura in 2019, with many notable features like Andre 3000, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar. Most recently, he formed the critically acclaimed R&B duo Silk Sonic with singer Bruno Mars and released their debut album, the Grammy award-winning An Evening with Silk Sonic. During their hiatus, Knxwledge also released his solo album, 1988, which included a feature on the album by .Paak.
Although over half a decade has passed since their last release, the dynamic connection and chemistry between .Paak and Knxwledge picks up right where they left off. In their single, NxWorries delivers much of what they did in their last release, Yes Lawd!. From start to finish, the 2016 album is a funky and entrancingly soulful record, encapsulated by the smoothness of .Paaks' sultry vocals and supported by Knxwledge's timeless soulful tracks. Although their latest track is more mellow than on their last album, it nonetheless features much of the same funky and soulful energy from projects past while cleaning up some of what was desirable on their last album. The beat is just as rhythmic, as the drums mesh seamlessly with the synthesizers in the background to create a laid-back, lowkey track that draws you in. .Paak comes in with melodic and soothing verses about his troubles of trust with a love interest. Then H.E.R. enters, molding perfectly into the tone of the song. The smooth, neo-soul release of their newest single is a welcomed throwback to the past. .Paak's vocals and intensity are reminiscent of the admirable soul-funk titans from generations before. NxWorries' long-awaited comeback delights fans everywhere as we eagerly await the announcement of release dates for the forthcoming studio album.
