Goldie Scott Triumphs on "RaRa"
By: Kyle Henderson
It’s difficult to place Goldie Scott into a singular sound. While she identifies as fitting into the soul-pop genre, Scott, also known as Stephanie Weisz, enjoys sampling and toying with different sounds to create something truly unique. This has become more apparent on her latest single, “RaRa,” an uplifting track that demonstrates Scott’s determination to blaze her own trail.
Despite only having one single in her discography, Scott is already working with some big names in the industry. “RaRa” was produced by “Bassy” Bob Brockmann, a Grammy-winning producer who’s previously worked with well-known artists like Aretha Franklin, TLC, and Mary J. Blige. It’s an impressive feat for a new artist to be working with such big names, generating lots of intrigue around Scott’s sound.
“RaRa,” which comes out on March 17, talks about standing up to the lies of the mass media. Through the song, she uplifts her listeners and encourages them to feel bold enough to speak about their truths without fear. She highlights that when we’re united and proud, there’s nothing we can’t do, singing, “We’ll be taking on the tyrants / Standing tall, united.”
The song combines a classic piano with Scott’s more alternative pop vocals that are reminiscent of the late Amy Winehouse. It’s a fun, upbeat track, and it showcases Scott’s love of sound experimentation, but the message behind it is what makes it so special. Scott’s dedication to empowering her listeners shines through, and it makes the song that much more enjoyable to hear.
“RaRa” is a bold, empowering follow-up single that showcases Goldie Scott’s range and exciting personality. Wherever she goes next on her musical journey, she’ll do it with passion, ambition, and that same “RaRa” that’s gotten her this far.
